His latest release, published by the Trust Drum Circles (TDC) Network, features Matilda Pablo on vocals and Mark Hitchcox on the mbira. The track blends traditional African instrumentation with modern production and rich harmony while capturing TDC’s heartbeat: uniting people through rhythm, healing, and artful collaboration.

Malak Light

For Maseh Nchang, Malak Light represents more than an album. It marks a season of growth, discipline, and creative transformation. Inspired by the belief that discipline creates freedom, the project emerged from a renewed sense of purpose and focus, allowing space for deeper artistic exploration. The ten-song album brings together seven featured artists, weaving diverse voices and musical influences into a cohesive expression of creativity. Published by the Trust Drum Circles (TDC) Network, Malak Light embodies the collaborative spirit at the heart of the TDC community while inviting listeners to discover light through dedication, transformation, and artistic connection.

During the recording of The World Is Changing, Robert Keith, owner of The Electric Company recording studio in Akron, Ohio, reflected on Maseh Nchang's collaborative approach to music-making: "It was a very heady room where all the musicians were kind of talking it out and conceptualizing things, planning and developing riffs…I think that's a really good balance point for musicians, where you can be intellectual, but you can also be in a place where you're…an empty vessel for whatever's going to happen. Maseh really does a good job of walking that tightrope."

Musician and multi-instrumentalist Benjamin Coates is a featured artist on Man in Rhythm where he performs guitar and serves as the album's producer. As one of the project’s key creative collaborators, Coates described the qualities that make working with Maseh so impactful: "Maseh is such a magnet. He can attract so much from so many people, and his real strength is bringing minds together to create something. … He takes feedback well and is always looking for what he's not thinking of.”

Singer-songwriter Matilda Pablo, whose music is known for its warmth and brightness, was the featured vocalist on All is Well. She spoke about the collaboration that shaped her contribution to the song and the positive environment that surrounded the recording process. "We discussed harmonies, melodies and the vibe that Maseh wanted the song to portray. It was easy to be creative with such genuine and kind people."

When Maseh Nchang envisioned the sound of All is Well, he knew he wanted the distinctive voice of the mbira. Mark Hitchcox, a musician and longtime student of mbira music, described the experience of helping bring that vision to life: "Maseh's full creative vision, involving layers of vocals, hand drums, and percussion lifted the energy of the song to another level. I was intrigued to experiment and explore sounds."
