All Heads Together – Angu Walters
Angu Walters is a self-taught artist from Cameroon whose vibrant, abstract works pulse with the energy of African music, family life, and spiritual reflection. A protégé of the late Nzante Spee, Walters developed his craft in Bamenda, where he still paints today—despite the region’s ongoing civil unrest.
His style blends cubism, surrealism, and geometric abstraction, often portraying musicians mid-performance or families in motion. Walters’ early experiments with ink and cardboard evolved into a lifelong devotion to color, rhythm, and cultural storytelling. He was also a member of the Melting Age Band, a musical collective that deeply influenced his visual language.
His work has been exhibited across Cameroon, Europe, the U.S., and Asia, and is part of the permanent collection at the Cameroon National Museum in Yaoundé. Through every brushstroke, Walters honors his roots, his mentors, and the enduring spirit of his people.
